Our Story:

1983 -The story of the Vineyard Church in Irondequoit began in a bible study in the Rochester suburb of Irondequoit. The group was eager to see a vibrant church planted in their community among their neighbors. As a result the Irondequoit Assembly of God church was started. After moving about from various temporary meeting places land was purchased on Portland Avenue and a building was erected in 1986.

1995 -The church leadership felt directed by the Lord to formally join the Association of Vineyard Churches. This union with the Vineyard came at a time of significant spiritual renewal in the church.  During this time many in the church became aware of the empowering work of Holy Spirit and life-changing power this brings to one's relationship with Jesus Christ.

2001 -After several years of severe challenges and difficult circumstances the Vineyard began a steady climb back to a vibrant and enthusiastic church. We purposed to be a church that is expressing care for the community, inviting people to connect their lives with the good news of God's love and embrace the empowerment of God's mercy and grace to bring positive lasting change in the quality and meaning God has for life.

Present -The church continues to grow and learn what it means to be the kind of church God intended. We will by God's grace be a church that seeks to worship God, communicate the gospel, teach the Bible, pray for the sick, make disciples and care for the poor and needy. We're convinced this adventure that began two decades ago with a handful of people is far from over. We hope you decide to be a part of our story.
